Create a Plan
Before beginning your search for the perfect location, make a list of what you do and do not want. Make sure to take into account not only what you want personally, but any requirements the franchisor may have. It is also a good idea to make a budget plan early so you know exactly how much you can afford to pay in rent.

Think Visibility
One of the most important location factors for a franchise is visibility. Even if you choose a great building on a popular street, if your sign is too small or your business is hidden then you may lose potential customers. Make sure your location is either highly visible from a main street, or provides the option for you to have a large, prominent sign for your store.

Target Market
Having your target consumers nearby will always be helpful to your business. For example, if your franchise sells school supplies, being near a school or popular residential area will be very beneficial. Try to determine your target market in advance by researching what who typical are, and be sure to find out what information your franchisor can provide.

Drive by Traffic
Having your store on a well-traveled street will help your business. Make sure to ask your potential landlord for data on the amount of drive by and foot traffic. Also take notice of how fast the traffic is actually moving. If the speed limit is high and there are no traffic lights very close, your potential customers may drive right by your store.

Employee Access
While looking at locations always ask yourself, “can employees access the location easily?” If candidates will have to make a large commute to work then you may miss out on highly qualified employees. Another important factor to consider is whether or not there is a large and dependable employee market nearby.

Franchisor Requirements
Do not forget to look at your franchisor’s requirements, restrictions, and recommendations before going to look at potential locations for your store. Franchisors want you to succeed and will usually offer you quality advice on what sort of location works well for your business. They may also have certain size requirements or legal restrictions that you have to follow.

Some crucial and essential components to having a successful on-line business.
On-line marketing may have developed a sudden surge these past few years, but many in the know how have felt its rise even from way before then. As more Internet based businesses are put up, the need to develop new marketing skills and knowledge based on this new medium have arisen. For help visit www.freelist-pro.com. More and more marketing strategies are being discovered and developed to cope with the changing face of the business world.

Opt-in marketing requires the permission of a willing customer to subscribe to your marketing materials, materials that take form in newsletters, catalogs and promotional mailings via e-mail. The more opt-in marketing mail is sent, the more chances there is to bag sales and more sales. To do this, you must build a list of all those who want to subscribe to your opt-in marketing list.

From your list, you will get your targeted customer, this is a good list since they already have shown interest in what you have to show and sell since they have willingly signed in for your list. These are the people who have liked what they have seen in your site and have decided they want to see more and maybe even purchase whatever product or service your company and site has to offer.

Many people would think that building their lists would take hard work and a lot of time to build and collect names and addresses. This is not so, it takes a bit of patience and some strategies but in doing this list, you open your site and your business to a whole new target market. Take the effort to take your business to a new level, if traffic increase and good profits are what you want, an opt-in list will do wonders for your business venture.

There are many sources and articles in the Internet available for everyone to read and follow in building a list. Sometimes they may be confusing because there are so many different ways. For help visit www.freelist-pro.com. Different groups of people would have different approaches in building an opt-in list, but no matter how diverse many methods are, there are always some crucial things to do to build your list. Here are four of them.

1) Put up a good web form in your site that immediately follows the end of your content.

While some may say this is too soon to subscribe for a website visitors application, try to remember that your homepage should provide a quick good impression. If somehow a website visitor finds something that he or she doesn’t like and turns them off, they may just forget about signing up.

A good web form for subscribing to an opt-in list is not hard to do. Just write a simple short statement about how they would like to see more and get updated about the site. Then there should be an area where they could put in their names and e-mail address. This web form will automatically save and send you the data entered. As more people sign in, your list will continue to grow.

2) As mentioned in the first tip, make your homepage very, very impressive.

You need to have well written articles and descriptions of your site. Depending on what your site is all about, you need to capture your website visitor’s fancy. Make your site useful and very easy to use. Do not expect everyone to be tech savvy. Invest in having good programming in your site, make your graphics beautiful but don’t over do it.

Don’t waste your time making the homepage too overly large megabyte wise. Not all people have dedicated T1 connections, the faster your site gets loaded, the better. Go for a look that borders between simplicity and sophisticated knowledge.

3) Provide good service and products.

A return customer is more likely to bring in more business. Even then and now, a satisfied customer will recommend a business always. Word of mouth and recommendations alone can rake in more business than an expensive ad. As your clientele roster grows, so shall your list. With more members on the list, the more people will get to know about what you have new to offer.

4) Keep a clean and private list.

Never lose the trust your customers have entrusted you. If you provide e-mails to others and they get spammed, many will probably unsubscribe to you. Remember, a good reputation will drive in more traffic and subscribers as well as strengthen the loyalty of your customers.

Planning is one of the most important aspects of starting a business. Proper planning is needed for success in business and, for that matter, anything you do in life. If you plan on starting a wholesale business, then you need to learn more things on wholesale business. After you find out the type of business you like to start, you need to get your business licenses and tax id numbers.

Here is a 10-step guide to set up your own business and make it successful as well. Do what you love. You are going to devote a lot of time and energy to starting a business and building it into a successful enterprise, so it is really important that you truly deeply enjoy what you do, success depends on many factors. One of the most important factor being your determination and energy you put into making your business a success, whether the market is up or down!

Step 1: Ask Yourself Why? What is the reason to get into the wholesaling business? It is because you would enjoy working with other businesses and manufacturers being the main point of contact between bargain and profit? Or do you think it is incredibly easy to make money in wholesale?

Wholesaling is a distribution channel function where one organization buys products from supplying firms with the primary intention of redistributing to other organizations but, in general, not to the final consumer. A wholesaler is an organization providing the necessary means to: allow suppliers to reach organizational buyers and allow certain business buyers to purchase products which they may not be able to otherwise purchase. Large retailers often pay on a Net-10 or Net-30 schedule, meaning payments are made after the goods are delivered. This also gives you an edge to recuperate financially as a small business owner.

Step 2: Study Your Competition. Studying your competition is a skill you should master if you want to make more money in any market. By understanding your competition, you can create better sites, and better copywriting to outwit your competition. Retailers want to know whether they have a dependable supply source that meets their terms and often will not change wholesalers for an established product.

Regardless of whether you market goods or services, it is important to be aware of what is currently available in the marketplace. It is important because it ensures that whatever you are offering is comparable to what your competitors offer. After all, a customer probably will not buy whatever you are offering if your competitors are able to beat you on quality and price. Those two make a seductive purchase option to anyone, right?

Step 3: Assess your Financial Situation. On the financial end, you will need to identify the start-up and running costs of your business, and the potential revenues for your business, to determine the potential for profit and loss. Just a few of your costs will include: inventory, marketing, applicable business taxes, rent, electricity, staffing, insurance and phones.

A 3-5 year projection is common. If you are having difficulties making these projections yourself, consider looking to a local business support organization, or possibly a trusted banker, to understand what reasonable revenue projections in your area. Be sure to look past the startup costs as well.

Taxes, Employees, property rental and insurance are just a few of the things you will need to factor in as ongoing costs.

There are lots of articles and courses on the web where you will learn step by step how to put your story together. But, you can have the coolest story in the world and still not get more business if no one sees your story. This article will inform you of where you can get exposure for your business online. There is no business online or offline that will not benefit from “My Story Marketing.”

I’m going to come right out and say that online, your story is going to get you the most leads for your business in what they call web 2.0 …What the HECK is web 2.0??

This is a slang term for INTERNET, 2nd Edition…This time around the internet is much more interactive. The Internet, before about 2004, was mostly comprised of websites that were just static information on a page (pretty boring, if you ask me…) and content that was created by Website Owners, Companies, etc. Web 2.0 (or Internet, version 2) was coined because, blogs, social networks, video sharing sites all have content, but they are now created and updated by the actual USERS of these sites.

Myspace, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo and Utterli are all web 2.0 platforms. How can these websites benefit you? Well, before, when someone went into business online. They had to hire a web designer to create a website for you, or try to figure out how to build one themselves.

Now with the advent of blogs and places like Myspace and the others I’ve mentioned, you can literally have a web presence in a matter of minutes! So now, you have the ability to actually PICK and CHOOSE your prospects, in a rejection free environment. Sure, you’ll have the occasional mean message, but they’ll be few and far between if you’re targeting your market correctly and adding value to their lives.

Start building relationships with them, and voila, you start the “dating or courtship” process… But, there is a way to do this… You’ve got to be a great communicator…because the temptation to throw a cheesy line is built into you. And if you are listening to the RA-RA meetings and audios that I talk about frequently, surely you are going to cross the line and become some cheeseball from an old teenager movie…so watch out.

The main thing is that you seriously care more about them and helping solve their problems and getting them results than getting their money, you’ll do VERY well with this strategy.

This is the year that EVERYONE is finding out just how effective these techniques are, so take advantage NOW while the wave is rolling. So here’s a good way of doing it. Go to your favorite search engine and type in “social networking website” and start an account with all you have time for. I’d say at least 6 sites, because that will get you a great “spider web” of links to each other site, which will definitely help with the search engine rankings of your social networking pages.

Does this sound difficult and time consuming? Welcome the world of business! Now you know why only 5% of America is well off financially right now…that’s the percentage of the population that are willing to do what it takes to be successful.

Here’s a pretty obvious shortcut: Use the same story and format with all the social networking sites! Just remember that each site has unique and very cool features; take advantage of those. The different features will do a great job on their own to differentiate each of your profiles so that if your prospects go to the different pages, they won’t get bored and think that you’ve just haven’t tried very hard.

So first, you’ll get great search engine rankings if you’ve correctly researched your niche and keywords. Then people will be caught up in your story because it touches their heart for various reasons: Maybe you have of family or occupation or religion, or you grew up in the same area as they did, etc. Your story may inspire others and once that small connection is made, that’s when it gets really interesting…your story can go viral!

This happens when your story catches the attention of a connector, which is someone that likes to send their friends blog posts, videos and articles when they find things they like. Pretty soon your story is all over the place and everyone knows about you. Is that not the dream of every entrpreneur?

If you have ever conducted a job search during the holidays-if you are conducting one right now-it is important to understand that the holidays offer valuable opportunities not seen at other times of the year. Whatever you do, don’t believe the misconception that looking for work during the holidays is a waste of time. Nothing could be further from the truth.

If anything, the holidays are a time to step up your job search. You should continue to set regular goals and take positive action steps on a daily basis toward achieving those goals.

Not only will you have less competition in the job market during the holidays, you may have increased employment opportunities as many employers are still interviewing and hiring. Some are seeking new staff to fulfill certain business goals before the end of the year and others seek to put new employees in place, to have them all ready to go at the start of the New Year.

Here are some quick but essential tips to help you maximize the success of your job seeking efforts during the holidays.

1. Take advantage of holiday parties and events – Job leads and referrals can come from the most unexpected of sources. Family parties, get-togethers with friends, children’s events, church events, and holiday parties held by associations and civic groups should all be viewed and treated as networking opportunities. You should go to as many as you can fit in your schedule. Definitely keep it casual (now is not the time to hand out your resume), but when the topic of work naturally comes up, talk about your career goals and let people know you are open to advice and will be deeply appreciative of referrals. Collect names, email addresses, and phone numbers and follow up with your contacts a few days after the party.

2. Polish your presentation – Beat the rush! Professional resume writers are often swamped with work during the first few months of the year from job seekers and would-be job seekers who are just waiting for the New Year to conduct their search. If you need some professional assistance strengthening your resume, there is no better time than the present regardless of the season. Besides your comprehensive, traditional resume, you might also consider a shorter one-page version to use with networking contacts. These documents are concise summaries that will help your network contacts understand your job search goals, your qualifications, and your value proposition. If unemployed, you should also consider having some business cards made up with your name, a brief branding statement, and your contact information. You can hand these out at all the networking parties and events you attend during the holidays.

3. Re-establish old contacts – Truly effective networking is a continual effort that involves cultivating and nurturing relationships. If you’ve lost touch with old co-workers, supervisors, and college friends, now is a great time to reach out to them. Send a holiday card and include a note letting them know you’ve been thinking of them. Now isn’t the time to mention your job search, but a week or two later you could follow up with a phone call and a suggestion that you meet for coffee. The topic of work will inevitably come up and that is the time to discuss your search and to ask if they have any suggestions for people that it might be helpful for you to talk with.

4. Nurture new contacts – Put the names of recruiters you’ve been in touch with, employers who have recently interviewed you, and all your new networking contacts on your holiday card list. Send a “Season’s Greetings” or “Happy Holidays” card. You would be surprised at how few job seekers use this technique, and so it is a great way to keep your name in front of hiring decision-makers and help you to stand out from your competition. You might consider sending your card at a slightly offbeat time, so it arrives alone rather than with a dozen other cards. For example, on December 26 you could send a “Happy New Year” card.

5. Stay positive – Many people struggle through the “holiday blues” and the tendency for this can be even greater when you are frustrated by a challenging job search. Keep your ultimate goal in sight by setting weekly job search goals and daily milestones. Schedule and calendar these milestones to make sure you allocate the time you need for your search. But, don’t forget yourself! Make sure you also schedule time for you to just relax and enjoy the holidays.

6. Get out and volunteer – There are lots of opportunities to volunteer your time over the holidays. Particularly if you are unemployed and have some extra time on your hands, volunteering is a great way to build new networking contacts, to enhance your qualifications and experience, and to help out your community at the same time. If you are struggling with feeling a bit “blue” about looking for work during the holidays, this is also a great way to get out of the house and just forget your troubles for a brief time. Helping others feels good!

The bottom-line: Don’t take the holidays off. Continue with your job search and maintain your momentum by setting goals and following through with daily action steps. Whether you land your next job now or whether you land it in the New Year, when the celebrations are over you’ll be far ahead of all your job search competition-many of whom chose to forget all about job searching during the holidays.

Simply put, relationship marketing is the strategy of building strong, loyal and committed relationships with your client base. Often in striving to gain media visibility and recognition, businesses temporarily forget or overlook their most important marketing resource, your business relationship with people!

Below are a few handy tips to help you reassess your relationships with your customers, and how to develop a plan for building and improving those relationships.

Get Organized

It’s difficult to target and streamline communication and build relationships if you don’t start out knowing where you stand with your customers. You probably have files on your customers, but do these files include the tracking of correspondence? If not, this is an aspect that should be added to your customer files.

Another idea is to develop a file of success stories. Are there customers with whom you have a strong relationship, who are loyal and devoted clients? If so, assess the history of your relationship with these clients to determine if you did something different to gain their loyalty. You may even want to start a file of success stories to refer to for inspiration when creativity about how to expand customer relationships may be waning.

Develop a Communication Plan

Communication is the first step in building strong relationships with your customers. First, assess what your communication strategy is. If you do not currently have a strategy for ongoing contact with your clients, it’s time to develop one! Whether it’s a weekly, monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly correspondence with your clients, it’s important to decide on a plan of action and implement that plan.

If you already have a communication plan in place, and are tracking your customer communication, now is the time to review and assess the effectiveness of your plan.

- Do your customers seem engaged and interested in your communication with them?

- Is your customer base steady, or do you seem to be losing customers?

- Have you had any repeated complaints from multiple customers?

- How can you better serve your customers?

- Is there an easy and reliable way for customers to reach you if they have a complaint, concern, or would like to make a suggestion?

This may all sound overwhelming at first, but these are just a few areas to get you started thinking about how to facilitate more communication with your customers. You are probably already doing some of these things. If there are several of these suggestions that you are not doing, yet you feel compelled to implement, don’t panic! Just take one suggestion at a time and move forward that way.

Relationships with clients are built over time, and anything you do now to start the process is a step in the right direction. Once you start to understand and embrace the importance of customer relationships in a strategic marketing plan, you will be heading for success.

Professional project managers seeking certifications often discover that there remains so much more to learn about the subject. Some managers bank on the power of actual experience to strengthen their know-how; however there is something that the knowledge of structured approaches offers that mere hands-on experience can’t. Given the many learning opportunities available, how can program and project managers choose the right path that will further improve their skills?

Improvement and Skill Building, One Step At A Time

We, as individuals, need to employ the principle of continuous improvement. We have a broad culture of self-help and personal improvement, but not everyone has adopted the approach, and almost everyone could do even better. Just as so many practice personal self-improvement with the assistance of self-improvement books, motivational materials, attending motivational seminars, and more, it is virtually the same thing in the realm of project management skills. Advanced project management skills simply are taking everything we know, and then some, to the next level by becoming aware of new ideas and incorporating them into our own best practices.

Continuous Improvement

Let’s look at an example of how we can improve our ability to run meetings. We all know that the best way to do this is to practice, but, then again, it must be good practice. It is true that practice makes perfect, but “perfect practice” is what brings home the bacon. If we find ourselves in meetings on a regular basis, the best way to improve those skills and become a more “advanced project manager” is to try to raise our awareness, apply, adopt, and internalize one or two new ideas for continuous improvement on a daily basis.

For example, in meetings, setting a time limit for the meeting is a good technique. If you have not been doing that, or if you are not satisfied with how effectively you have been doing it, simply try to adopt this one single technique, master it, and integrate it into your common best practices. You might then want to tackle the idea of improving something like facilitation skills to enable everyone to contribute in an optimal way in solving problems in meetings. The key is to mark an area for improvement, to seek information on it to acquire one or two practical objectives, and to begin to put into practice.

Advanced project management training can help greatly in this process of personal and professional continuous improvement. Firstly, this will help us recognize and deal with different types of issues. It can heighten our awareness of what happens in certain situations and how to cope. It can help us to become aware and to develop strength at exercising many nuances of soft skills in our day to day project management practice.

Getting beyond meetings, project managers may identify any of the following areas and more for self improvement in the journey to more advanced project management skills:

1. Improve understanding of project and organizational finance.
2. Learn more techniques for communicating with people from different cultures.
3. Develop a deeper understanding of the unique perspectives of the various workforce generations that might make up your team.
4. Identify opportunities for leveraging outsourcing on projects, and also identify the risks and pitfalls of the outsourcing approach.
5. Adopt a more thorough understanding of issues surrounding telecommuting, and techniques and pitfalls in this evolving environment.
6. Build more advanced consultative skills for working as an external consultant, having worked within a single company for many years.
7. Become more effective at managing technical employees, a unique workplace challenge.
8. Broaden your scope of understanding of project management by expiring related methodologies, Bodies of Knowledge (BOKs), and frameworks, such as PRINCE2 or Six Sigma.
9. Seek to better understand the evolving field of knowledge management in organizations.
10. Develop a formal understanding of the strategic planning process, which provides the input to portfolio management and guide project and program selection.

This list of 10 possibilities for advancing one’s project and program management skills is actually a short one. When it comes to advancing project management skills, the sky is the limit, and the opportunities are virtually endless. There are a nearly infinite number of different types of challenges that a project or program manager faces, and whether by reading books, listening to selected speakers, taking classroom or online courses, and even hiring a coach, there is a lot of opportunity to improve, and many ways to do it.

The concept of zero based budgeting was introduced in 1960. The concept was initially used for some government and business organizations and more recently has increased attention. Zero based budgeting is a budget-planning procedure for the reevaluation of an organization’s program and expenditures. It requires each manager to justify the entire budget request in detail and places the burden of proof on the manager to justify why authorization to spend any money at all should be granted. It starts with the assumption that zero will be spent on each activity-thus the term “zero base”. What a manager is already spending is not accepted as starting point. Managers are asked to prepare for each activity or operation under their control a “decision package” that includes an analysis of cost, purpose alternative course of action, measure of performance, sequences of not performing the activity, and benefits. The zero based budgeting approach asserts that in building the budget from zero, two types of alternative should be considered by managers: (1) different ways of performing the same activity and (2) different levels of effort in performing the activity.

Success in implementing zero based budgeting requires linkage of zero based budgeting to the long range planning process, sustained support and commitment from executive management, innovation among the managers who makeup the budget decision packages, sale of the procedure to people must perform the work necessary to keep the concept vigorous.

Sound budgeting procedure should always require a careful evaluation of all operating facts each time the budget is prepared. There fore the zero based budgeting procedure is new and unique mainly in approach rather than in basic planning and control philosophy.

There was a fable which most of us would have heard in our raw ages- how a sparrow was caught in a net by a chaser, tried hard to do break free, when other sparrow friends came to her rescue. They all got together and flew away to the forest along with the net. In the forest, a rat friend bit away the net with his teeth, and saved the sparrow. Moral: Together, a team can cross all hurdles. Such Team Building Aesop’s fables are commonly used today.

Team Building isn’t marked by the concepts of age, time or space. It’s something that is taught to us since nursery, is on the top-most-agendas list in management schools, and is given due importance in companies and corporate firms. The importance of Team Building is emphasized so much that there are special Team Building training institutes that conduct team workshops.

And if we talk about business firms, Team Building is an effort that is highly emphasized, and there is a correct need to do so. Today, a company’s manpower is so large, hundreds and thousands of people working together, sometimes even geographically apart, that Team Building becomes as much important as difficult to achieve.

To help learn Team Building lessons, companies conduct Team Building activities periodically. The highlighted aim of such activities is to let all the employees participate equally, share the responsibilities and understand the essence of Team Building. To create a positive impact on organizational growth, there are various institutions that conduct Team Building workshops. These workshops emphasize the team’s effectiveness in achieving the goals, and hone the team’s armament.

Great teams make great organizations, and this is precisely the reason of the mounting popularity of Team Building corporate learning institutes. There are many success stories of such institutes who have converted ‘a group of people’ into ‘a team’, and reaped huge benefits. Remember, alone you can win a game, but together you win championships!
